For the development of high-yielding, early-ripening, high-quality varieties of string bean (Phaseolus vulgaris L.) applicable for the mechanical harvest and resistant to the unfavourable (late spring and early autumn frosts) climate conditions of the Republic of Belarus there was realized the selection of the intervarietal hybrids of string bean and release of the transgressive forms with high agronomic character. As a results of the analysis of the intervarietal F1 and F2 hybrids there were revealed the transgressive forms according to the indices of bean and seed quantity per crop. The tendency of the development of high amount of the transgressive forms in F2 hydrids which at the stage of F1 hybrids were characterized by the revelation of the heterosis effect was noted for the following hybrid combinations: Zoryushka x Polka, Rew x Polka. By means of the intervarietal hybridization of string bean there were created the appreciable lines 19-9, 19-8 (Zoryushka x Pension), 14-8, 14-13 (Rew x Polka), 12-4 (Polka x Rew) which exceeded the standard indices of bean quantity per crop on 22-43%
