Motility, sperm concentration, volume and percentage of damaged cells were analyzed. The aim of this study was to evaluate the influence of conducting an efficient control of boars. The semen was obtained from the Artificial Insemination (AI) Center of the Swine Research Institute and from three pig farms (Paredones, Polín, and Caonao) located in Havana province. A one year economical analysis of the three farms with AI in situ was done, taking into account the male/female relation. Sperm quality parameters were within the normal range for this species, being higher for boars from the AI Center. The means for motility (%), concentration (x106spz/ml), volumen (ml) and damaged cells (%) were: 74.1, 300, 254 and 5.3; 71.6, 253, 289 and 10.4; 74, 215, 267 and 7.4 and 65.9, 215, 266 and 14.3, for the AI Center, Paredones, Polín and Caonao, respectively. The economical analysis showed that $ 8.26/sow/year could be saved. Carrying out an efficient control of boars could be expressed in a better performance and more semen doses with higher
