Abstract
A total of 367 farrows of gilts and sows LY (129), DY (116) and HD (122) were analyzed. The data were selected between January 1994 and December 1995.Most of the animals were mated with CC21 boars. They were fed on soybean meal and B molasses during dry and pregnancy period and on cereals in suckling period respectively. The analysis was based on least square means. The model took into account the effects of crossbreed, season (divided in 8 three consecutive-months period), farrow (1, 2 and 3) and the interaction crossbreed x farrow. The following measures were studied: number of total pigs born (NT), number of pigs born alive (NA), number (N21), total weight (W21) and average weight (AW21) of litters at 21 days and number (NW), Total weight (WW) and average weight (AWW) of litters at weaning. The interaction was no significant. The farrow order was significant for all measures excepted the average weight at weaning with higher means for sows. The season was significant for all measurements. There was no difference among crosses for total born and average weight at 21 days. The means for crossbreed LY, DY and HD were NA 8.77, 9.06 and 8.34 (P0.05); N21 7.68, 8.26 and 7.48 (P0.01); W21 33.40, 35.70 and 31.45 kg (P0.01); NW 7.37, 7.89 and 7.18 (P0.05); WW 49.36, 51.55 and 43.99 kg (P0.001) and AWW 6.69, 6.49 and 6.08 kg (P0.001) respectively.
