Abstract
In order to study the spermatic quality and the production of dose per ejaculate 130 boars were evaluated during a period of 4 years in an A.I station. Was measured the following parameters: volume (ml), spermatic concentration (106 Sp/ml), mortality (%) and number of dose per 100 ml of volume. For this purpose were made extraction of semen every four days. For the mathematical analysis were used the least square mean method, considering the effects of breed, month and year. A regretion analysis was also used to found out the age effect. The breeds studied were Duroc, Hampshire, CC21 and F1(DxH). It was found a high variability among the years for all the ejaculate characteristics excepted mortality. Were found variations of the semen characteristics and of dose/ejaculate among all the breeds. The better performance for dose production was for CC21. The age, breed, month and year have to be taken in consideration for the analysis of spermatic quality and the production of semen dose. Key words: breed, spermatic quality, dose, swine semen
