Under laboratory and field conditions, the resistance of 88 cocoa individuals (Theobroma cacao L), belonging to Chalmers Collection, “(EET-Pichilingue-INIAP), to Ceratocystis cacaofunesta (Ceratocystis fimbriata) was evaluated. Two inoculation methods were used: in laboratory, segments of longitudinal branch sections (4.0 long x 1.5 wide) were inoculated and in the field, small branches of similar dimensions belonging to the same individuals evaluated in the laboratory were wounded. A suspension of 30000 fungus infective units per milliliter was inoculated; for this, 0.45 ml /branch segment was applied in the laboratory and 0.1 ml/wound/branch in the field. After 30 days of inoculation, a positive correlation on the determination of resistance in laboratory and field was registered (r = 0.61*).Twenty individuals with comparable resistance levels to IMC 67 (genotype Resistant) were registered. Most of them came from “AMAZ”, “CUR” and “TIP” populations. It is recommended to use them for vegetative propagation and inclusion in cocoa breeding programs
