There are three livestock breeds (Estonian Native cattle, Estonian Native horse, Estonian Heavy Draught) and one poultry breed (White Mallard) having the status of endangered breed in Estonia. The pedigree breeding and conservation has been annually subsidised by the Government via Breeding Associations, Breed Societies and Agricultural Registres and Information Centre. In 1999 the Estonian Action Plan for Protection of Biological Diversity including the description of current situation and problems of collection and conservation of farm animals genetic material was prepared. The data about Estonian livestock and poultry breeds were updated in the Domestic Animal Diversity Information System (DAD-IS)
