The preparation and testing of conjugates for use in the direct fluorescent antibody technique in infectious bursal disease, Newcastle disease, infectious laryngotracheitis and infectious bronchitis are described. It is shown that, when particular conditions are met, the technique is a useful substitute for or adjunct to the isolation of virus, which requires more time and labour.
