Four potting media, namely, ordinary garden soil (OGS), humus (H), OGS + H and control (C) were evaluated to compare the effects of the various potting media on the growth, vigor and survival of mangkono and to identify the best potting medium for mangkono wildings. Mangkono wildings are found tolerant to low fertility (as shown in the control), but its growth would be enhanced greatly when the fertile soil is used as potting medium. Using ordinary garden soil combined with humus (OGS + H) as the potting medium, mangkono wildings significantly showed superior performance over the other treatments in terms of mean height increment, mean diameter increment, leaf area measured from the third fully expanded leaf, number of leaves produced and number of wildings that survived at the end of the experiment
