Designing of cultivator rotary rippers optimized for beets cultivating  [2014]

Abstract
Soil loosening in rows and row-spacing before and after sprouts at beet cultivation is necessary as it destroys a soil crust and weeds sprouts. Rotational rippers of a cultivator carry out these operations most qualitatively. The soil loosening at sugar and fodder beet planting by the rotary harrow (RH) is considered for substantiating of their design data. It was established the analytical dependence of the degree of loosening on the RH design parameters. New schemes of installing harrow disks in the longitudinal and transverse planes to the direction of movement as well as their number have also been substantiated. It was established rational constructive and technological parameters of the RH, ways of their combination and placing on the universal cultivator for processing sugar beet in different treatment terms. RH with stamped disks (4-6 items) in two blocks and rotary (up to 10 degrees) holders were effective for the cultivation of the stony, clogged and compacted soils in pre-sowing period. Following parameters are laid down: disks diameter are equal to 0.3 m, tooth width is equal to 3 mm, the teeth have triangular (less than 60 degree) or involute shape, inter distance is equal to 60-90 mm, disks block in-plane displacement is equal to 195-210 mm. It is defined that for pre-emergence and post-emergence loosening soils is applied RB block type with cast discs. Their parameters are following: diameter is equal to 0.3 m, height of the tooth 0.073-0.11
0 m, teeth are drop-shaped, length of the pointed tooth part is equal to 12-18 mm, number of teeth is not less than 12, single-cut teeth setting. The best indicators of loosening in protective zones of compacted and foul soil are shown at the single-disk rippers with slant rotation axis up to 10 degrees to row, with involute shape of the tooth. Soil cultivating by new RH has made possible the intensification of loosening and weeds destruction by 91% (instead of 43%) at maintaining or increasing crop yield by 15%. The amount of herbicides has been reduced up to 4.5 kg/ha and manual work to care for beet has been eliminated.
