Abstract
Studies of vegetable oil extraction process were conducted in a pilot plant based on a single-screw oil-press. To ensure the maximum efficiency of oil-press without finished oil quality loss it is necessary to provide continuity and uniformity of oilseeds loading into hopper. 18 three-way experiments where factors were rotating speed of the screw of the oil-press, rpm; gap of the curb camera, m; annular gap between the screw and the curb camera. Response parameter - oil-press productivity, kg/h. It is found that to get the required productivity of the oil-press it is necessary to set the angular speed of the screw revolving in the range of 5.5–6.4 rps, the value of the annular gap between the screw and curb camera being 0.7–0.9 mm, the curb camera gap being 0.16–0.18 mm. To optimize the process, the output parameters values were converted into a dimensionless scale of desirability d. In the course of research it was found that the desirability D function, characterizing the adequacy of the obtained values, has an extremum of 0.8 at the particular parameter combination. The following parameters should be considered as optimal: the angular speed of the screw revolving of 6.6 rps, the annular gap between the screw and the curb camera of 0.92 mm, the curb camera gap of 0.19 mm.
