In this paper the effect of main Rht genes on stem height, spike lenght and grain weight/spike have been examined. Wheat cultivars with seven different Rht genes were used as material for investigation. As a good wheat breeding material for stem height and grain weight/spike semidwarf wheat cultivars Sava (Rht 8) and Siete Cerros (Rht 1) could be used. Contrary, dwarf wheat cultivars Tom Thumb (Rht 3) and Ai-bian (Rht 10) are not good, because they have extremely short stem and very small production of kernels/spike. Bankut 1205 (Rht 0) and Siete Cerros (Rht 1) are cultivars with genes for long spike and they could be used in future wheat breeding programs.
