A review of research concerning the non-fumigant nematicide fenamiphos was conducted by examining the abstracts of papers published on this subject by CAB International in Nematological Abstracts. A considerable number of works (506) investigated the technical characteristics of the molecule of this organophosphate nematicide (mechanism of action, metabolism and degradation, persistence, residues, etc.). Papers reporting the results of field, microplot and pot experiments to test the effect of the nematicide on nematode population and crop yield were the most numerous (951). The results of these studies indicate that the application rates of this compound can be drastically reduced without affecting the yield of the treated crops. The microencapsulated formulation deserves particular interest because it is easy to apply, allows a uniform distribution of the product in soil and minimizes the health risk for the applicator. The geographic areas in which research has been more active, the target plant parasitic nematodes and the investigated crops are also reported
