On the basis of historical and scientific analysis of the works and references to the question of historiography the milestones in the development agricultural development of wetland soils in Ukraine are traced. It is proved that the relevance of their further cultivation over the years is not lost, if we consider worked longstanding experience and recommendations not only modern scholars, as well as our leading figures in this branch of science, whose achievements have become classics of agriculture.
