The aim of current study was to ascertain in the Estonian Native breed the horses with silver dapple colour, their line affiliation and find out possible distributors of silver dapple. The horses born in 1980 to 2007, registered in Estonian Native Horse stud book, were analysed. The data set included the colour and pedigree data from 1146 horses. According to our analysis, two stallions were possible carriers of silver dilutions gene - Taube 60 E of Estonian origin and Taru 149 E of Finnish origin. Currently there are 30 breeding horses registered with silver dapple colour in Estonian Native horse breed. By conserving the breed, attention should also be paid to preserving the colour variations of the breed, including silver dapple colour.
