The Polish dwarf apple rootstock P 59 was rooted in vitro on three media: Murashige and Skoog, Murashige and Skoog with half-strength macroelements, and Woody Plant Medium. The influence of three concentrations of indolebutyric acid, three brands of agar (Bacto Difco, Shoei and bioMerieux), L-proline and phloroglucinol on the rooting of microshoots was investigated. The best effect was obtained on Woody Plant Medium with addition of 1 mg/l indolebutyric acid and 6 g/l of Shoei agar. Rooting was improved by the addition of 200 mg/l L-proline. Phloroglucinol had a negative influence on the rooting of microshoots P 59.
