Effect of full fat soybean and dehulled soybean meal on laying performance and egg quality  [2011]

Total of 288 pullets aged 25 weeks were divided into 4 groups. Each group of the animals contained 6 replications of 12 pullets each. The animals were randomly assigned to be fed with 4 experimental diets as following. Diet1: corn-soybean meal and rice bran diet, Diet 2: Corn-soybean meal and extruded full-fat soybean diet,Diet 3: Corn-dehulled soybean meal and rice bran diet and Diet 4: Corn-de-hulled soybean meal and extruded full-fat soybean diet. Results showed that layers fed diet 1 had the highest feed intake in every period. Layers on diet 3 and 4 tended (P = 0.07) to have better hen-day production and layers fed Diet 2, 3 and 4 had significantly (P LT 0.05) better feed per dozen egg values than those fed Diet 1. Hens fed Diet 2 and 4 had higher yolk colour scores than those fed Diet 1 and 3 (P LT 0.01). Results showed that substitution of de-hulled soybean meal and extruded full-fat soybean for regular (non-dehulled) soybean meal and rice bran can reduce the egg production cost as well.
