ARGOSS has developed a new depth monitoring system (Bathymetry Assessment System, (BAS)), for mapping of the depth of shallow coastal waters based on ERS SAR observations. The cost of this service is between one third and one tenth of conventional methods and results can be produced in a significantly shorter period of time. Given the resolution of ERS SAR images, maps at scale 1:50,000 or better can be produced. This is sufficient for a wide range of applications.
