Laboratory studies were made to evaluate the potential of seed mucilages for the control of mosquito larvae. Trials done with the Tokma (Hyptis suaveolens Poit), Tishi (Linum usitattissimum L.), Talmohana (Hygrophila spinosa T. Anders), Lajjabati Lata (Mimosa pudica L.), mustard (Brassica sp.) and seed husks of Esupgul (Plantago ovata L.) revealed that only the seeds of Tokma and Talmohana entrapped 60 and 40% larvae respectively. Seeds of Tokma, Talmohana and Esupgul showed positive chemo-attraction for Culex and Anopheles larvae. The seeds of Mimosa, Mustard and Tishi produced the least amount of mucilages. Sed husks of Esupgul though produced sufficient amount of mucilages and showed positive chemo-attraction which proved to be ineffective in entrapping mosquito larvae
