The study was conducted at Baghabari FSR site, Pabna under farmer's condition during November '90 - April '91. Two varieties of oat seeds (Kent and Swan) and one variety of barseem were collected from Directorate of Livestock Services and were tested at four different locations having different cropping patterns. The average bio-mass yield was higher (30.8-42.3 t/ha) in Kent variety at all locations than those of Swan, barseem and oat-barseem (21.5-39.0, 12.3-21.5 and 32-42.4 t/ha) respectively. Although mixed oat-barseem showed a relatively higher bio-mass production next to Kent, sole barseem showed the lowest performance. The bio-mass yield of Kent variety and mixed oat- barseem did not show any significant difference at all locations, while Swan variety showed highly significant difference (P 0.01). Therefore, the study showed that the bio-mass yield of Kent variety and mixed oat-barseem grew well and has potentials for increased production of fodder.
