The quantity of seeds of the herbages on the meadow and pasture lands, sowed on the unit area, is closely connected with the coenotic activity of the species included in the grass mixtures. To soften the competitive relations among herbages (especially, it concerns the longevous ones) it is rational to be guided by the quantity of sowing seeds during the seeding rates composition rather than by the weight rates. Calculations of the production efficiency of grass stands of various years of use showed that the highest expenses were stated in the first five years of use. The calculation included seed energy, fuel and lubrication materials, living labor etc. connected with creation of a new grass stand. That is why the recoupment of expenses by means available energy yield was lower when in the conditions of grass stand use in further years but amounted in a rather high value – 212%. For that reason the prime cost of production of 1 centner of fodder units from the grass stands of the first years of use was on 1,2-11,9% that the older ones.
