Field trials were conducted to validate the efficacy of 9 nematicides in controlling root-knot nematodes. The results indicated that fosthiazate 10% GR, metham-sodium 35% AS and dazomet 98% MG showed the best effects on nematode larvae and formation of root-knots, followed by carbosulfan 5% GR and abamectin 0.5% GR, which had good effects on J2 and production of tumours. 5× 10. living conidia/g Paecilomyces lilacinus GR and 2.55X 108 living conidia/g Verticilliurn chlamydosporium MG had bad effects during growth prophase, but their effects increased gradually during growth midphase. Methylene dithiocyanate 2. 5% WP had marginal effects, but could be used during the whole growth season. Calcium cyanamide 50% GR showed the worst effect and could not control J2 over 60 d after treatment.
