Voraussetzung ist die Kenntnis des Leistungsniveaus der einheimischen Populationen. Desweiteren muessen die individuelle Heterosis in Kreuzungen zwischen einheimischen Rassen und Huehnern unter kontrollierten Haltungsbedingungen beobachtet werden, sowie Majorgene mit Nebeneffekten auf Tropentoleranz. Die tatsaechliche Leistungsbereitschaft der Lokalrassen duerfte unter kontrollierten Haltungsbedingungen ansteigen. Durch die Verwendung von Lokalrassen in Kreuzungssystemen steigt das produktive Adaptationsvermoegen durch Bereitstellung guenstiger Genome und Majorgene an.
