Eighty one embryonated eggs were alloted into 4 groups and incubated at 100 - 103 degrees Centigrade. Group I and Group II consisted of 24 three day-old and 33 nine day-old embryonated eggs respectively. They were injected with various concentrations of monosodium glutamate solution into their air chambers. Group III contained 24 nine day-old embryonated eggs which were inoculated with various concentrations of monosodium glutamate and the injections were repeated at day 11. Pathological changes such as failure of absorption of yolk, hemorrhages in various parts of the body, hydrops anasarca, anomali of the feet, stunted growth, gastroschisis, anophthalmia and ectopia cordis were observed in the dead embryos. Group IV consisting of 18 embryonated eggs which were injected with NaC1 solution did not show any significant pathological changes.
