The Psoralea corylifolia (seeds) and Punica granatum (flowers) were subjected to Phytochemical screening and antifungal activity of saponins extracted from these plants. Results shows that saponins, steroid, flavonoids, glycoside and alkaloids were present in both plants. Anthraquinones were absent in both plants. Psoralea corylifolia and Punica granatum contain 14.25% and 16% crude saponins, respectively, on dry fight bases. Both plant show hemolytic activity. Silica gel and mixture of chloroform methanol and water for TLC while alumna and mixture of methanol and diethyl ether, were used cluent column chromatography. Crude saponins isolated from P. corylifolia and Punica granatum were qualitatively fractionated by TLC and quantitatively by column chromatography into four fraction each. The crude saponins isolated from P. corylifolia showed antifungal activity against Fusarium oxysporum and Aspergillus niger and minimum inhibitory concentration (MIC) was 5.030 ppm. The crude saponins isolated from Punica granatum showed antifungal activity against Fusarium oxysporum, upto concentration 4.320 ppm. Each fraction of crude saponins of P. corylifolia and Granatum was checked for its antifungal activity. The fraction "A" of P. corylifolia exhibited a show antifungal activity. The fraction B, C and D did not show antifungal activity. Each fraction of crude saponins of Punica granatum was checked for its antifungal activity. The fraction "D" exhibited antifungal a
ctivity. The fraction A, B and C were isolated in minute quantity, could not apply for test fungi.
