Garlic germplasm consisting of Agliobianco, Alladher local, Chinese,Hazro, Peshawar local and S4 was planted in district Swabi during 2002-03.Morphological studies of the pathogen isolated from diseased leaves showedthe presence of urediospores (dimensions 23-29 multiply 20-24 pin), two-celled teliospores (dimensions 40-58.2 multiply 15-21 pin) and 7 to 10 germpores per urediospore indicating that the fungus was Puccinia allii. Growthparameters (yield and bulb index) of different garlic cultivars weresignificantly affected by the pathogen.
