Performance and economic evaluation of pea varieties at different altitudesas off season crop was conducted at Kaghan (1667 mash and Battakundi (2788masl) in summer 2002. Five pea varieties Viz Meteor, Dasan, Climax, DMR20 andKaghan local were tested. The experimental design was randomized completeblock with 2 factors factorial arrangements. In varieties, the minimum plantheight (40.45 cm) was observed in Meteor while maximum plant height (149.26cm) was in DMR20. Significantly maximum pods plant-1 (11.52), yield ha-1 (9.395t) and income (Rs. 276156 ha-1) were given by Dasan as compared to theminimum of 7.43 and 7.5 pods plant-1 and 5.02 and 5.958 t ha-1 in local andDMR20 respectively. In altitude, maximum plant height (79.06 cm), pods plant-1(10.97), grains pod- 1, yield (9.342 t) and income ha-1 (Rs. 276156) wereobtained from pea grown at Battakundi than at Kaghan. The performance ofDasan and Climax was better at Battakundi regarding production and income perunit land than at Kaghan.
