The aim of the investigation was identifying peculiarities of the circular irrigation machine (IM) operation in a case of complex terrain. When the specified IM operates on complex terrain some decrease in productivity occurs due to a decrease in labor utilization rate of the shift. Increasing soil bearing capacity is possible by adjusting the irrigation mode (irrigation rate, intensity and diameter of rain drops, surface water runoff). To reduce the travel pressure of IM on the soil (up to 100 kPa and below), it is recommended to equip them with low pressure tires or caterpillar and walking driving machines. This takes into account their location along the length of the machine. For efficient IM climbing the slopes and in order to reduce oscillation resistance it is recommended to use travel systems used in places of terrain lowering, and to ensure maximum traction properties the position of the nonskid wheel grips on each of the wheels should be opposite relative to each other. It is achieved by gear motors installation on each wheel of bogies, equipping them with wave gears instead of toothed gears, in order to eliminate parasitic losses for electrified IM. This allows increasing the drive efficiency by almost 2 times (from 0.50 to 0.90). To exclude the involuntary rolling of bogies on the slope, the electric IM is equipped with self-locking gears, and the hydraulic drive IM with improved brake systems. In this case, the absence of excessive rolling of
bogies is ensured by equipping them with tires oriented in the direction opposite to the direction of travel. These ecologically safe and energy-saving directions of work will increase the IM reliability during slopes watering.
