In order to characterize the reproductive tract, ovulation rate and embrionic mortality of Criollo swine of Cuba twenty five 8-9 months old with 85 kg live weight Criollo gilts were used. Gilts were fed with a B molasses and soy bean meal diet and inseminated with fresh and preserved 24 hours CC21 semen. Gilts were slaughtered at 30 days of gestation and the reproductive tract, vulvs, vagins and ovaries were weighed. Corpus luteos and embrions were counted and the embionic mortality the was estimated. Conception rate (88%) and heat presentation (72%) were also measured. Means of reproductive tracts, vagins and vulvs were respectively 2259, 88 and 46 g. Weight of left and right ovaries and horns were respectively 4.6, 6.0, 1008 and 1042 g. Ovulation rate number of embrios and embrionic mortality were respectively 9.94, 6.93 and 30.3%. Beside good development of reproductive tract of Criollo gilts their reproductive potential is lower than Yorkshire or Duroc and the same to Hampshire and this fact indicates that this breed has little perspective in places were a minimun of management exist.
