One of the main directions of increasing fodder production and stabilize crop production is the creation of highly productive herbaceous agrophytocenosis. In the North Caucasus region, especially in its central part, perennial grasses on arable land are often cultivated in single-species crops, especially legumes. Research and industrial crops show that the most effective simple 2-4-component mixtures, although the intensity of their use is often observed to simplify their botanical composition to monodominant. Nevertheless, mixtures have the advantage over single-species seeding. Observations show that they are the most efficient use environmental factors, persist longer and provide a more stable yields from year to year, and the food are better balanced nutri tionally. The most promising avenue to create pastures is the selection of mixtures of different maturity, which will ensure a uniform flow of feed during the season and will start the grazing period for 10-15 days earlier. To obtain a stable high yield by years of use in the grass mixture should include species with different life expectancies, which shall consist of the types of the same rate of growth and development within a single season. The combina tion of cereal and legume-grass swards with different growth rates will allow to extend the time of their use in each cycle of deflation, fully realize the potential of plants as possible in accordance with their biological features.
