Pests of oil palm: a preliminary study

A project conducted to survey and collect some basic data for oil palm pests and their natural enemies. Most of the insects collected were the leaf eating insects in the orders Orthoptera, Coleoptera and Lepidoptera. The second groups were leaf sucking insects in the order Homoptera. Few vertebrate pests were observed. The natural enemies of the insects were the predators in the families Reduviidae, Pentatomidae and Coccinelidae; and the parasites ir the families Braconidae, Ichneumonidae, Chalcididae and Tachinidae.
