The isoflavone content of natural pastures in the county of Cordoba has been studied. Soil factors can induce variations in the phytoestrogen level in the pasture. Soil organic matter, pH and Ca increments are determinants in the increase of isoflavone content. When the Mg concentration increases in soil the isoflavone level decreases. P and K effects are quite similar to that of pH and Ca and its significance is discussed on the basis of the botanical composition of pastures and its alterations
