The flavonids in cotton seed (Gossypium barbadense) "Menoufi" variety were first studied before germination, then their changes in relation to germinating and early growth stages were also investigated. Seven flavonoid glycosides have been isolated and identified by using paper chromatography, complete acid hydrolysis, mild acid hydrolysis and hydrogen peroxide oxidation. The identity of the isolated flavonoids were confirmed through their R subindex f values and UV spectral data. They are, three monosaccharide glycosides, quercetin (4,5,7,3',4' pentahydroxyflavone) 3-glucoside (I), 3-galactoside (II) and kaempferol (3,5,7,4' tetrahydroxyflavone)-3-glucoside (VI); two disaccharide glycosides quercetin-3-rutino-side (III) and 3-glucogalactoside (IV); and two trisaccharide glycosides quercetin and kaempferol-3-glucorutinoside (V) and (VII) respectively
