Potassium balance in meadow soils was found to show negative values even with potassium rates as high as 200 kg/ha annually. The decline in the content of available potassium was faster in light soils than in a silty alluvial clay soil. Content of available potassium in the soil and N fertilization rate were discussed as criteria for K fertilization requirements
