Highly significant variations in number of lesions among lines of the three tobacco types indicated that entries differ in their reaction to tobacco mosaic virus. No differences in size of lesions were seen among the entries across locations and in entry-location interaction. Significant difference in number of lesions across locations was attributed to the low degree of infection in the Pangasinan set-up due to delay in inoculation. Heritability (broad sense) of number of lesions was found high (0.6824). This result suggests that modifier gene(s) may be responsible for the variability
