The animals were 25 months of age and were grazed on 4 types of pastures under three different stocking rates. The animals were separated into 4 weight groups. The mean slaughter weights were 322.63, 366.00, 416.83 and 478.50 kg for groups1, 2, 3 and 4, respectively, with the overall mean being 373.63+-14.35 kg. The mean values obtained for meat: bone ratio, meat, bone, fat, and total edible tissue as percentage of slaughter weight were 2.04+-0.28, 31.41+-2.23, 15.66+-1.89, 9.94+-3.01, and 45.16+-2.54, respectively. The paper compares the different weight groups for identifying on optimum slaughter weight. It also discusses the Droughtmaster carcass in comparison with the Kedah-Kelantan carcass, and finds the Droughtmaster, in economic terms, a more superior one
