The effect of different weed control durations on lowland taro (Colocasia esculenta (L.) Schott 'Kalpao) was determined at two planting distances. No significant differences in weed weight, weed density, plant height, number of leaves and suckers, petiole girth and yield of lowland taro were noted between the plant spacings used. However, these parameters were significantly influenced by various weed control treatments. The number and weight of weeds decreased while the vegetative and corm yield increased as the period of weeding was increased from 2 to 14 weeks. A weed-free peeriod of 14 weeks from planting resulted in the highest corm yield and net income
