The effect of four organophosphorus insecticides in controlling major pests of sorghum [Philippines]
1984
Jayson, E.V. | Catli, E.G.
There are four insect pests attacking sorghum during the conduct of the study, namely: aphids, which belong to order homoptera, whorl maggots under order diptera; sorghum headworm and corn borer under order lepidoptera. With regards to yield obtained from different treatments, pathion treated plants gave the highest mean grain yield. This was followed by methyl fosferno, parapest M, folidol M-50 and the control having the least mean grain yield. There was no significant difference in the treatment mean in all treatments. As to the economic cost and return of the different insecticides used, pathion gave the highest net return per peso invested. It is because pathion is cheaper compared to folidol M-50 which gave the least return per peso invested
