Mixture of pendimethalin plus oxadiazon applied pre-emergence and propanil plus butachlor, thiobencarb or pendimethalin applied early to post-emergence controlled weeds effectively in dry-seeded wetland rice. Yields were not significantly different from the hand-weeded check. In contrast, butachlor applied alone to pre-emergence performed poorly. A sequential application of 2, 4-D after applying residual pre-emergence herbicides performed better than residual herbicides applied alone. Results from the trials indicated the potential of combining herbicides as a possible approach to control weeds effectively in this type of rice culture
