Effect of plant population and stage of harvesting on the growth and yield of knol-khol [Brassica oleracea var. Gongylodes L. of Bangladesh]
1984
Bhuiyan, M.A.J. | Chowdhury, A.R. (Bangladesh Agricultural Research Inst., Joydebpur (Bangladesh))
An experiment with knol-khol was conducted at the Central Research Station of Bangladesh Agricultural Research Institute (BARI), Joydebpur, Dhaka between the period from 4 October, 1982 to 17 January, 1983, which included 3 spacings (40 cm x 15 cm, 40 cm x 25 cm and 40 cm x 35 cm) and 4 stages of harvest (50,60,70 and 80 days from transplanting). The closest spacing gave the highest yield (18.05 t/ha); and harvesting the crop at the 60th day of transplanting was most suitable in respect of yield. Tubers harvested at the 70th day of transplanting started to be unfit for human consumption due to high fibre content
