The causes of the disease which attacks many varieties of peach trees, under the name "Rusty spot of peach" or "Staining of peach" or "Stain of peach", were unknown for many years. For this reason, a research work has been carried out in certain institutes of our country. The research work which has been carried out in the Pomology Institute of Naoussa in the years 1966, 1967, 1968, 1977, 1978 support the opinion, that the cause of the disease is a species of poudery mildew. The below mildewcides 1) lime sulphur (Cas. Sx), 2) permanganate + wettable sulphur, 3) thiophanate methyl (Neotopsin) and 4) Nimrod (bupirimate) reduced the infection of the disease in a significant degree when the spraying were applied in early season, long before the appearance of the disease
