The MAISAGANA insect pest recommendation is based on the understanding of the appearance of the pest during certain stages of the corn plant. It involves the integration of early planting, proper timing of application (basal and whorl) and detasseling technique. It adoptes greater than 100 larvae/100 plants as the tentative economic threshold. Selective weeding by allowing Ipomoea triloba or Brachiaria mutica to grow around the corn field could also be recommended
