Higher N application increased plant height, leaf area, and number of harvested leaves. Thinner leaves were also noted with increasing nitrogen rates. In Batac (San Manuel silty clay loam), the highest yield and crop value were obtained from plants with 105 kg N/ha whereas in Marcos (San Manuel loam) and San Juan (Bantay loam) highest yield and crop value were from plants fertilized with 70-105 kg/ha. Lower requirement for N was observed in Rosario (Umingan clay loam) where 35-105 kg/ha produced the highest yield and crop value. In Sta. Maria (Bantog clay) and Balaoan (Bigaa clay loam), yield was increased by the application of 35-105 kg N/ha but the crop value decreased. Potassium had no effect on all the parameters evaluated in all locations except in Balaoan where yield and quality index were improved by the addition of element. Growth and yield response of tobacco to fertilizer varied according to soil type and location
