Brown rices different in milled rice properties were infested with rice weevil (Sitophilus zeamais Mostch.), red flour beetle (Tribolium castaneum, Herbst), and lesser grain borer (Rhyzopertha dominica (F.)). The number of emerging F1 adult insect and the damage to the grain were determined. Only S. zeamais produced a large decrease in head rice yield. Index of susceptibility to S. zeamais based on number of F1 adults and their mean developmental period correlated positively with width and weight of brown rice and negatively with grain hardness
