Sugar beet and ensilage from corn cobs in nourishment of fattening pigs

The experiment was carried out with 80 fattening pigs fed on dried sugar beet, 3 kg raw sugar beet, 6 kg raw sugar beet or corn cob silages. The beets given in a form of a dry substance showed higher nutritive efficiency than the raw ones. The lowest nitrogen retention was stated in the pigs getting dry or raw sugar beets. The carcasses of animals fed on sugar beets were better muscled than those from control and corn silage groups. The increased portion of sugar beets in the ration influenced the improvement of quality of carcasses. The sugar beets in rations increased the liver mass and the corn silages caused the diminition of colon
