Methods of the water deficit [water stress] measurement in plant tissues

Zielinska, D. (Akademia Rolnicza, Poznan (Poland). Zaklad Fizjologii Roslin)
Water deficit could be described by the two basic parameters: content of water and energetic status of the contained water, expressed as a total water potential. The full turgor of the tissue as the basis for expression of water content enables to estimate a water deficit in plant tissue (WD) according to the method, and the equation of Stocker, or the relative turgor (RT) after the method and equation of Weatherley. The total water potential could be estimated by means of the thermocoupee psychrometer method, often used for estimation of water potential and its components
