Solid fraction of pig slurry was composted in September. A heap 4 m wide, 5 m long and 1.5 m high was located in a surfaced yard not protected against precipitation. The highest temperature, reaching 59 C was found at the depth of 50 cm, the lowest at 100 cm (55 C), pH value fraction dropped from 7.49 to 5.60 and its dry matter content was increased from 28.5 to 47.8%. Bacteria of Shigella genus were destroyed after 10 days of composting, Proteus vulgaris after 24 days, and Streptococcus sp. in 99% and Escherichia coli in 88-99.3% after 30 days
