Gas exchange in plants of common yew (Taxus baccata L.) from trees of different age

The investigations had a goal to explain the process of ageing of trees on the example of common yew. They were carried out on rooted shoots taken from 1000, 700, 300, and 100-year-old trees. It was stated, that the age of mother trees did not influence the differentiation of average size of dry mass of one needle, the content of the water in needles, and the intensity of photosynthesis or respiration. It was also stated, that plants of yew taken from 100-year-old trees (topophysis) showed the greatest growth. No differences in ability of rooting of shoots taken from trees of various age were found
