Effects of seed size and pod maturity on some aspects of groundnut seeds quality were determined on Tainan 9, a recommended cultivar. Conditioned (processed) dry groundnut pods were hand shelled and classified for pod maturity based on the internal pericarp color. Seeds were seized using the round-opening perforated hand screens of the size 16/64 to 22/64 inch. There was no variation in seed moisture content for the different seed-size classes, but higher seed weight and higher seedling dry weight were obtained from the large seeds. Laboratory germination and field emergence showed no difference among seed-size classes in germination percentage, but small seeds germinated faster than larger seeds. The medium seeds were superior in storability than large and small seeds. Loss of seed germination were found on different maturity groups stored at room temperature for a period of 7 months or longer, but no germination loss was observed for the seeds stored at 20 deg C and 65% R.H. However, a similar study on storage potential in another seed lot showed that seeds in the mature and intermediate maturity groups were potentially better in storability than immature seeds
