Comparative value of water-soluble and citrate-soluble phosphorus of fertilizers on various soils under different moisture conditions [in Thailand]
Saithip Saengkun | Revadee Deemark
Greenhouse study was conducted to determine the uptake of P fertilizer based on water soluble P and citrate soluble P. Fertilizer having various water soluble P and citrate soluble P were applied to Suwan 1 corn and grown on Lopburi and Pakchong soil series. Two soil moisture levels were maintained. Growth responses of plant of fertilizers and moisture levels were observed on both soils. The results showed that plant treated with all rates of various available P in fertilizers produced higher dry matter yield than yield of the control. Yields of corn grown on Lopburi soil treated with fertilizers having water soluble P and citrate soluble P of 90-9 percent, 86-12 percent and 78-20 percent were not significantly different. However, corn treated with 90-9 percent P fertilizer produced higher yield than that of 57-42 percent P fertilizer. On Pakchong soil, corn treated with 86-12 percent P fertilizer produced higher yield than that of 90-9 percent, 78-20 percent and 57-42 percent fertilizer treatments. Watering both soils to 65 percent water saturation markedly increased corn yield. The growth response to fertilizer are attributed to increasing N, P and K uptake. The uptake of fertilizers increased markedly as water saturation of soil increased. Corn grown on Lopburi soils was applied with all rates of fertilizer took up more N, P and K than that from the control. Corn grown on Pakchong soils and received 90-9 percent P fertilizer took up the largest amount of N and K. Phosphorus uptake was highest when 86-12 percent P fertilizer was applied. Use of 78-20 percent and 57-42 percent P fertilizers decreased N, P and K uptakes by plant
