Efficacy of five fungicides in controlling Alternaria blight of radish seed crop

Efficacy of five fungicides, namely Duter (0.2%), Benlate-T 20 (0.05%), Dithane M-45 (0.2%), Topsin-M (0.075%) and Rovral (0.2%) on the control of Alternaria blight disease on the newly released variety ''Tasaki-Mula'' was assessed in vivo. The crop was subjected to infection by Alternaria brassicicola under natural condition of Bangladesh. Five foliar spray of the fungicides were done at 10 days interval. Data were recorded on per cent leaf area diseased, no. of spot per siliqua, seed yield and 1000 seed-weight. The scale followed for disease index was (0-8) rating scale. Out of five fungicide, Rovral showed best performance followed by Duter and Dithane M-45, while Benlate-T 20 proved to be least effective. Rovral reduced leaf spot severity and siliqua infection by 90 and 94%, respectively and gave significantly higher (58%) grain yield over control.
